The Scottish Children’s Reporter Administration (SCRA) and Children’s Hearings Scotland (CHS) have launched a new corporate parenting website aimed at young people. The website has information about children and young people’s rights, details on where to go if you need advice and a Q & A section.
What is Corporate Parenting?
Corporate parents are organisations who have a legal responsibility for children and young people under the Children and Young People (Scotland) Act 2014. By law, corporate parents have special responsibilities they must carry out, and a moral duty to provide the best possible support and care they can to the children and young people they are involved with.
Corporate parenting is about listening to young people’s needs, fears and wishes and being proactive and determined to support and involve young people. This new website is a way for SCRA and CHS to fulfill their corporate parenting duties and make things better for young people in the Children’s Hearings System.
