Today, Mentor and Big Hearts held the first meeting of their newest initiative, a Men’s Kinship Care Group. The group aims to connect men kinship carers, who are otherwise not engaged in peer support, to share their experiences while undertaking a range of social activities.
In Thursday’s first meeting, we were joined by local health charity, Health All Round, who equipped carers with pedometers and led a community walk around Gorgie, which took in the Union Canal and other local attractions (a grand total in excess of 9,000 steps according to Mentor worker, Connor!).
We’re thrilled that so many turned up and that the weather allowed for a pleasant morning. But if you missed out today, it’s not too late!
