Kinship Connections Training
“Bringing up children is hard work for anybody, but when you are looking after the child of another family member of a friend it can be even more difficult…”
Kinship Connections is the first programme in Scotland to specifically address the unique challenges that are faced by kinship carers.
The six-week course has been designed by Mentor with expert insight from CELCIS, and covers information and practical strategies around attachment, brain development, trauma, challenging behaviour, resilience and self-care.
“I enjoyed every part of this course. I now have a better understanding of myself and my granddaughter.”
The programme is centred on relationships – ‘connections’. It helps carers to focus not on what has happened in the past, but how they and their child can grow together in the future.
