Kinship support group receives well-deserved award

On Thursday 7th June, members of Grandparents Parenting Again attended the Midlothian Volunteer Awards. They had been nominated in the category of Long Service to Volunteering Award, along with four other nominations. Unfortunately for the group the well-deserved winner was a longstanding football coach of over 20 years with Dalkeith Thistle Community Project. However, the group were very shocked when it came to the last award. Presented by Sir Robert Clerk, Lord Lieutenant of Midlothian, the award was for Volunteer Team of the Year Award and they were absolutely delighted when their name was called out.

The Group are so very proud that they were chosen and they were humbled by the speech made and the genuine congratulatory wishes received. One of the members, Alice, was subsequently interviewed by Black Diamond Radio, their local station where, as always, she took the opportunity to raise awareness of kinship care.

We hope you will join us in celebrating with Grandparents Parenting Again, and if you want to contact them or hear more about this then please contact
