Aberdeenshire Family Solutions (Children 1st)

The Family Solutions service supports vulnerable families in Aberdeenshire who have parenting issues, are subject to substance misuse and need support and advice. The service offers support and advice to families through one to one support sessions.

Alcohol & Drugs Action

Alcohol and Drugs Action provide a range of services to families affected by alcohol and drug misuse in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire. This includes information and advice (their helpline is open Mon-Fri 10:30-19:00; Sat-Sun 14:00-17:00), and access to one-to-one and group support for children or other family members.

Grampian Child Bereavement Network

Grampian Child Bereavement Network is a dedicated resource and central point of reference for children who have been bereaved. It aims to provide information and support to families where a child or young person is bereaved, and to help children and young people access appropriate support for bereavement within Grampian.

Home-Start

Home-Start centres provide a range of support to families with at least one child under five years old. Each centre has trained volunteers who support families who may be struggling with isolation, physical health, bereavement or a range of other issues.

Kinship Care Team (Aberdeenshire Council)

Aberdeenshire’s kinship care team run a telephone and email service (Mon-Fri, 9:00-17:00) to answer any kinship related queries; their website also has information about support, allowances and other FAQs. In addition, they run a bi-annual kinship carer newsletter, with information about local support and events; organise a range of events for carers and activities for children; offer information sessions; and link with a number of independent support groups in the area.

Rainbow Rogues

Rainbow Rogues supports parents, carers and children with additional support needs. The group meets twice weekly; experienced playworkers provide a quality play experience in a small supportive session, while a community worker supports the parent/carers. Rainbow Rogues offers an opportunity for children to take their first steps towards inclusive settings.

The Spark Counselling Aberdeenshire

The Spark is a leading provider of couples counselling, marriage counselling, individual counselling and family counselling in Scotland. Sunrise Partnership

Sunrise Partnership is a free, confidential service for children and young people up to age 18 who have been affected by loss and bereavement. They aim to help children and young people deal with loss, change and bereavement in a healthy and positive way, by using therapeutic tools and strategies tailored to the individual child and their age and stage of development. This may be one-to-one, sibling or family support, or group support.
