This podcast series is from the Kinship Care Advice Service for Scotland, the national advice agency for kinship care.
Here, we will be in conversation with kinship carers, practitioners and professionals who provide family information and support for kinship carers in local communities.
By sharing these stories, we hope to bring to represent the essential role of kinship carers, revealing why what they do is so important and to bridge connections between Scotland’s kinship community.

This podcast is an edited recording of a conversation between the national Kinship Care Advice Service for Scotland, and Alice and Myra of Grandparents Parenting Again.
We met in person in February 2022 at Gorebridge Parish Church Hall to talk about the role of partnerships in sustaining the group over its 18-year history, and how this benefits the needs of kinship carers and the training needs of people supporting families.
In this podcast from September 2021, we meet with a member of the Clackmannanshire Kinship Carers and with Anne Wilson from Children’s Health Scotland. We discuss how the Council-run support group has benefitted kinship families by continuing to meet virtually during the Covid pandemic. Bereavement support for families, the retraumatising effect of Covid and new friendships are the themes of our conversation.
