Barnardo’s Fife – Children’s Rights and Advocacy Service

One-to-one rights and advocacy support for: Children aged 0-18 who are Looked After by the local authority; Children aged 0-18 who are affected by a disability; Children aged 5-18 attending an Initial or Review Child Protection Case Conference.

Barnardo’s Fife – Stronger Families Service

Barnardo’s run several family support projects in Fife. The Intensive Family Support Service works with families with children aged 0-12 years in the Kirkcaldy and Levenmouth areas, where children have specific behavioural problems, or they are affected by or at risk of family crisis. They also support children affected by substance misuse throughout Fife, and deliver early intervention, parenting programmes and befriending.

Clued Up

Clued Up provides a comprehensive “youth friendly” substance misuse support and information service for young people under-25 in the Fife area. It also aims to encourage young people to make positive lifestyle changes to assist them to become responsible and active members of their communities. They currently have drop ins at Kirkcaldy, Leven and Benarty, and also run one-to-one outreach and group work.

The Cottage Family Centre

The Cottage Family Centre was established in 1987 and is now located in the Templehall area of West Kirkcaldy. The Centre provides a range of support to families who are vulnerable to social exclusion as a result of factors such as poverty, unemployment, poor housing, relationship breakdown, drug and alcohol problems and health-related issues.

DAPL

Drugs, Alcohol and Psychotherapies Limited (DAPL) offers one-to-one counselling, support, information and advice to individuals and families who are affected by substance use and live within Fife. The service is free and confidential and offered by experienced workers. DAPL has bases in Leven, Kirkcaldy and Glenrothes and can also access appropriate rooms in other areas of Fife to enable clients to be seen in their local area where possible.

Families First St Andrews

Family Mediation Tayside & Fife (Relationships Scotland)

Family Mediation Tayside and Fife is a member of Relationships Scotland. They support individuals, couples and families experiencing relationship difficulties. They have offices in Dundee and Glenrothes, from which they offer a range of services, including family mediation, counselling, family therapy and supervised contact, to families throughout Tayside and Fife.

Fife Alcohol Support Service

Fife Alcohol Support Service (FASS) supports people affected by alcohol-related problems in Fife. They provide a range of services, including counselling, a specialist trauma service, and a family support project for families and friends affected by alcohol use. Services are available throughout Fife, from towns including Dunfermline, Kirkcaldy, Glenrothes and St. Andrews.

Home-Start

Home-Start centres provide a range of support to families with at least one child under five years old. Each centre has trained volunteers who support families who may be struggling with isolation, physical health, bereavement or a range of other issues.

Include Me

Include Me is a citizen advocacy project in North East Fife. They focus their resources on people who may be vulnerable because they lack a support network or have difficulty accessing appropriate services. Include Me can link these people to a Citizen Advocate who will offer them moral support, practical assistance, and help them to safeguard their rights.

Includem

Includem provides intensive support services to some of Scotland’s most vulnerable young people. They work with young people who are most often excluded from mainstream services, and run a range of projects to help young people with issues such as preventing family breakdown, crisis support, transitional support and raising attainment. Kinship Care - Fife Council

The Kinship and Early Years Team at Fife Council provide a range of support for all kinship carers in the local authority. Their kinship care information line offers advice and guidance on a range of issues; in addition, they can offer focused work with carers and ensure that children in kinship care receive appropriate support. They support six peer support groups across Fife and can also signpost kinship families to other services where needed.

Kindred in Fife (Kindred Advocacy)

Kindred Advocacy exists to ensure that families of children with additional support needs in Scotland will have the information, services and emotional support that they need to care for their children to their best ability. Kindred in Fife is based in Rosyth and can offer a range of support and information on education and benefits, advocacy services around health, education, social work and housing, and access to parent groups.

Multisystemic Therapy (Fife Council)

Multisystemic Therapy (MST) is an intensive family and community based intervention for children and young people aged 11-17, where young people are at risk of out of home placement in either care or custody due to their offending or having severe behaviour problems. The key goals of MST are to break the cycle of anti-social behaviours by keeping young people safely at home, in school, and out of trouble.

Play on Wheels (Smart Play Network)

Play on Wheels (POW) is a mobile play service operating in Dundee, Angus and Fife. The team consists of four experienced play practitioners with two vans filled with scrap resources for children to explore and enjoy. POW works alongside children, families and practitioners in their own settings for around 8 to 12 weeks to create lasting change. Scottish Autism Fife One Stop Shop

Scottish Autism supports children and young people aged 5-19 in Fife through individualised outreach support, a respite and short breaks service and an education service. Services take time to build up a deep understanding of each young person, taking into account their processing and thinking style in order to maximise their learning potential. Woodlands Family Nurture Centre

The Woodlands Family Unit is located in Buckhaven, and is a family centre for parents/carers and their children in the local area. The Yard

The Yard runs adventure play services for disabled children, young people and their families in the east of Scotland. We offer disabled children and their siblings the chance to experience creative, adventurous indoor and outdoor play in a well-supported environment. Parents and carers also have the opportunity to meet other families and build a network of support.
