Clacks Families Support Service

We help under-fives get ready to start school. Children need social and communication skills to do well when they start school, and early years services are crucial. We provide extra support services such as play sessions, speech therapists, health intervention and parenting programmes.

Dyslexia Scotland

Dyslexia Scotland is a national organisation based in Stirling that represents the needs and interests of people with dyslexia. They provide a range of services that aim to encourage and enable children, young people and adults with dyslexia to reach their potential. These include a national helpline, website toolkits and resources, volunteer-led local services, and dyslexia assessments at their offices in Stirling.

Forth Valley Family Support Service (Scottish Families)

Scottish Families are operating a Family Support Service across the Forth Valley and will provide information and advice, one to one support, peer support through the facilitation of family support groups and advocacy to individuals, family members and friends affected by someone else’s substance misuse. Although they are only able to support adult family members (18 years and over) they will be able to direct you to other age appropriate services if applicable.

Home-Start Stirling

Home-Start centres provide a range of support to families with at least one child under five years old. Each centre has trained volunteers who support families who may be struggling with isolation, physical health, bereavement or a range of other issues.

Includem

Includem provides intensive support services to some of Scotland’s most vulnerable young people. They work with young people who are most often excluded from mainstream services, and run a range of projects to help young people with issues such as preventing family breakdown, crisis support, transitional support and raising attainment.

Kooth

Kooth.com is a free online counselling, advice and support service for young people aged between 10 and 16 years available in Glasgow and some other areas in Scotland.

It provides a safe secure means of accessing support with a specialist team of qualified counsellors and offers self-help tools and community spaces. The aim of Kooth is to support better emotional and mental health and wellbeing of young people and support is tailored to the individual young persons needs and situation.

The qualified counsellors are online 365 days a year. Monday to Friday, from 12 noon – 10pm and between 6pm- 10pm on weekends.

Kooth has no waiting list or referral process. Children and young people can access support for any issue they may be experiencing.

Nordoff Robbins Scotland

Nordoff Robbins use music therapy to help people with a range of conditions including learning disabilities, neurological disorders, life-limiting illness, brain injury, cerebral palsy, mental health issues, trauma, stroke and dementia.

Stirling & Clacks Services (Barnardo's)

Barnardo’s offer a range of services throughout Stirling and Clackmannanshire from their regional office in Stirling. These services cover issues relating to children and young people affected by substance misuse, family support and parenting programmes, youth justice, and throughcare and aftercare.

Support for Families (S4F)

S4F in Stirling supports individuals and families affected by a loved one’s alcohol or drug misuse. They specialise in providing support tailored for individuals and families who have nowhere else to turn or are exhausted with the constant struggle of dealing with drugs or alcohol.

S4F also provides an activity group once a week and during school holidays for children who are living in families affected by substances including kinship care. Children aged 5-15yrs can attend the weekly group, and the school holiday programmes are for primary aged children. Referrals can be made by emailing or phoning the number below. A youth counselling service is available for girls aged 12-18yrs who are struggling with the impacts of Adverse Childhood Experiences. Referrals by email or phone detailed below.
