Aberlour Family Outreach works in Dumfries, Annandale, Eskdale and Stewartry, supporting children affected by parental substance misuse. The service works on an outreach basis to improve family relationships, routines, educational attainment and attendance and promote better relationships between family and school.

Quarriers’ Family Support Service supports children, young people and families affected by disability throughout Dumfries and Galloway. They have offices in Dumfries and Stanraer provide help to parents and carers, children and young people at home or in their local communities.

Barnardo’s Hear 4 U project provides advocacy for children and young people, helping them to have their say in decisions that affect them. In Dumfries and Galloway, they prioritise children who are looked after and accommodated by the Council; young people who were previously looked after and accommodated (up to age 26); children who are struggling with emotional health and wellbeing, including those with a learning disability; and children who are involved in the children’s hearing system or child protection process.

Home-Start centres provide a range of support to families with at least one child under five years old. Each centre has trained volunteers who support families who may be struggling with isolation, physical health, bereavement or a range of other issues.

Support in Mind Scotland seek to support and empower all those affected by mental illness, including family members, carers and supporters. They run a range of projects in Dumfries and Galloway, which operate on a referral only basis.
Action for Children’s Upper Nithsdale Family Service provides a range of support to help families flourish. Their family centre in Kelloholm provides a crèche and drop-in service, and they can also offer family support.
