Barnardo’s Axis Service works with young people who have problematic substance use. They also offer a service for young people where there is a concern that they are at risk of developing problematic substance misuse, called the Early Doors Service.

Aberlour Early Years Outreach Service is based in the Falkirk Council area and supports families with young children. The service works on an outreach basis in local nurseries, community and health centres, playgroups, toddler groups and in family homes. Prevention work is one of the service’s key principles, along with a genuine understanding that parenting can be difficult for many due to a variety of reasons.

Relationships Scotland supports individuals, couples and families experiencing relationship difficulties. Their office in Stirling offers a range of services, including family mediation and supervised contact, to families throughout central Scotland.

This local service from Scottish Families Affected by Alcohol and Drugs offers support to anyone in Forth Valley over the age of 16 who is affected by someone else’s drug or alcohol use. This could be a direct family member, or even a friend or a colleague who is using substances.

Home-Start centres provide a range of support to families with at least one child under five years old. Each centre has trained volunteers who support families who may be struggling with isolation, physical health, bereavement or a range of other issues.

intandem is a mentoring programme for children and young people in Kinship Care. It supports young people aged 8 to 14 years, and often carries on beyond age 14.
Mentors can make a big difference to a young person, building their confidence, helping them to try new things and set goals. By meeting regularly (often weekly), they build a positive relationship and have lots of fun together.
intandem is managed by Inspiring Scotland and delivered by 11 charity partners in 19 local authorities.

Falkirk Council Social Work team provide services for Intensive Family Support. This includes helping families in crisis who have children/young people aged between 8 and 18 years and children who are at a risk of becoming ‘looked after away from home’.

Falkirk Council aims to ensure that any kinship carer can access the support they need. They run a monthly support group for all carers, with advice, support and training available on the full range of issues. The kinship care service maintains close links with other council and voluntary services, helping kinship families to access the support they need. When the child is looked after, an allocated social worker will conduct an assessment of need, develop a care plan and arrange support according to the family’s support needs.

Kooth.com is a free online counselling, advice and support service for young people aged between 10 and 18 years available in Falkirk and some other areas in Scotland.
It provides a safe, secure means of accessing support with a specialist team of qualified counsellors and offers self-help tools and community spaces. The aim of Kooth is to support better emotional and mental health and wellbeing of young people and support is tailored to the individual young persons needs and situation.
The qualified counsellors are online 365 days a year.
Monday to Friday, from 12noon – 10pm and between 6pm – 10pm on weekends.
Kooth has no waiting list or referral process. Children and young people can access support for any issue they may be experiencing.

The Family Centre runs groups and family support workers are available to families who require support.

The Spark is a leading provider of couples counselling, marriage counselling, individual counselling and family counselling in Scotland. They have centres in Trinity Church, Falkirk, and at the Forth Valley Sensory Centre, Camelon, which serve Falkirk and Stirlingshire. They offer a range of face-to-face, online and telephone appointments for couples counselling, marriage counselling, relationship counselling and individual counselling.
