Big Hearts Kinship Care Programme

Big Hearts is the official charity of Heart of Midlothian Football Club. Their Kinship Care Programme is run in partnership with Mentor and other community partners, and provides an after school club, school holiday football coaching, football tickets for kinship families and more.

Conflict Resolution Service (Cyrenians)

The Cyrenians Conflict Resolution model offers a dual approach to helping young people and families overcome conflict and other destructive behaviour patterns. Their team includes both specialist mediators and trained support workers who – from one case to the next – might work together or independently of one another to provide a tailor made service for each client. East Lothian Kinship Care Hub (Children 1st)

The kinship care hub provides a range of support interventions designed to meet families’ discrete and complex needs. These include befriending, advocacy, mediation, practical support, individual and group work, parenting support, financial inclusion advice, family group conferencing, and direct intensive therapeutic support working with loss, harm and trauma.

Families Together (Mentor)

Mentor’s Families Together project is a family support programme tailored specifically to the needs of kinship families. Their team of family support workers and youth workers offer tailored one-to-one support to carers and children and young people. The project also runs a range of peer support groups, youth activities and residential outings.

Family Mediation Lothian (Relationships Scotland)

Family Mediation Lothian supports families and children who are experience break up; they aim to minimise any negative effects and, where possible, prevent them from happening at all. They run a range of services, including a telephone information service, mediation services, child contact centres and children’s groups.

First Step Community Project

First Step is a community managed project that offers a range of support services for local families including nursery education for children aged 1-4 years, groups and courses for parents, a sleep clinic, support groups for grandparents, young parents, parents with addictions and an outreach service. These groups are open to anyone living in the Musselburgh area.

Fostering Compassion

Home-Start East Lothian

Home-Start centres provide a range of support to families with at least one child under five years old. Each centre has trained volunteers who support families who may be struggling with isolation, physical health, bereavement or a range of other issues.

MELD

MELD aims to reduce the harm associated with substance misuse by providing free and confidential services for individuals whose lives are affected by drugs/ or alcohol. The Family Support Service works with adults affected by a loved one’s substance misuse. This support includes one-to-one counselling, drugs education, complementary therapies and stress management and a group work programme that takes place across Mid and East Lothian.

Richmond's Hope

The Speech Language Communication Company (SLCo)

SLCo has a range of information services that provide help and advice to parents and carers about speech, language and communication. Their staff cover Dundee, Angus, Perth and Kinross, Edinburgh and Lothians, Glasgow, Greater Glasgow and Clyde, Borders and Western Isles; they organise local support groups, workshops, one-to-one support, and can arrange a Speech Language Therapist guided support service.

YMCA Edinburgh

YMCA Edinburgh runs a range of projects for children and young people in Leith, Edinburgh and East Lothian.
