Borders Additional Needs Group (BANG)

BANG is a group set up by parents of children with special needs to support families who have children with additional, complex or rare conditions. They meet monthly to offer information and support, provide a link to other services, and have a directory of information on benefits, funding, respite and other issues.

Children 1st Borders

Children 1st’s service in the Scottish Borders focuses on supporting children and adults to recover from abuse. They support survivors to express their feelings and make sense of their experiences, using art, play and drama to help children recover, and involving parents and carers in the healing process.

Family Support Service (Scottish Borders Council)

Scottish Borders’ Family Support Service provides support to help families and parents/carers. They operate from six centres in Eyemouth, Galashiels, Hawick, Innerleithen, Kelso and Selkirk; and they offer a range of groupwork programmes, after-school clubs, drop-in services, play activities and family outreach.

Relationships Scotland supports individuals, couples and families experiencing relationship difficulties. Their office in Peebles offers a range of services, including family mediation, counselling, family support and supervised contact.

Scottish Borders Short Term Service (Action for Children)

Action for Children’s Short Term Service works with the most vulnerable and at-risk young people, aged 8-18. The service offers an intensive programme of support for approximately 8 weeks and during this time can work with both young people and families in crisis.

The Speech Language Communication Company (SLCo)

SLCo has a range of information services that provide help and advice to parents and carers about speech, language and communication. Their staff cover Dundee, Angus, Perth and Kinross, Edinburgh and Lothians, Glasgow, Greater Glasgow and Clyde, Borders and Western Isles; they organise local support groups, workshops, one-to-one support, and can arrange a Speech Language Therapist guided support service.
