Addaction South Ayrshire Recovery

Addaction South Ayrshire Recovery provides support and encouragement to help people recover from problematic drug and alcohol use. The service is free and confidential and also offers support for friends and family affected by a person’s alcohol and drug use.

Ayrshire Council on Alcohol

Ayrshire Council on Alcohol offers a confidential counselling / support / advice service for people who are affected by their own or someone else’s drinking. This service is provided by trained counsellors and is available in various locations throughout South Ayrshire.

Ayrshire Kinship Care Service (Children 1st)

The Kinship Care Service offers a range of support provided by staff and trained volunteers and helps to empower families and increase their resilience and ability to care for and support their children. Interventions include befriending, advocacy, mediation, practical support, individual and group work, parenting support, financial inclusion advice, family group conferencing, and direct intensive therapeutic support working with loss, harm and trauma.

Ayrshire One-Stop Shop (National Autistic Society Scotland)

The Ayrshire One-Stop Shop offers a wide range of ‘all under one roof’ autism support and information services for people with autism, their families and professionals throughout Ayrshire. Their staff hold meetings, groups and activities in a variety of local community spaces.

Buttle UK

Buttle UK supports children and families in crisis. In Glasgow, in addition to provide grants for basic household necessities, Buttle also works in partnership with the Scottish Kinship Care Alliance to help establish support groups, which help kinship carers to negotiate better support from statutory agencies.

Family Mediation West of Scotland (Relationships Scotland)

Family Placement & Adoption Team (South Ayrshire Council)

South Ayrshire’s Family Placement and Adoption Team is responsible for assessing kinship carers and children that require to be looked after away from home. The assessing social worker will identify support and training needs to assist the kinship carer in their role. South Ayrshire also provides support through its kinship care support group and in partnership with Children 1st.

Hear 4U South Ayrshire (Barnardo's)

Barnardo’s Hear 4 U project provides advocacy for children and young people, helping them to have their say in decisions that affect them. In South Ayrshire, they prioritise children who are aged under 18 and struggling with emotional health and wellbeing, children who have a learning disability, and children aged 5-15 who are involved in the child protection process.

Intandem & Peer Mentoring Service (Barnardo's)

Barnardo’s Intandem and Peer Mentoring services offer a range of support for children and young people. Support includes individual and group work (including for those identifying as LGBTQ), personal development, providing skills and supporting transitions.

South Ayrshire Befriending Project

The South Ayrshire Befriending Project is a local charity which supports socially isolated and excluded young people aged 8-18 who have no or limited adult support to access recreational activities; they often work with young people who are affected by other issues such as child protection procedures, drugs/alcohol, mental health problems and disabilities. The project provides young people with an adult volunteer on a one-to-one basis, and aims to improve access to local activities and increase confidence and self-esteem.

Barnardo’s Family Resource Service offers a range of flexible, community-based support services to children and families. This includes individual and group work support for children; practical and emotional support for parents/carers; support groups for parents/carers; therapeutic services for children and parents/carers; intensive support for families where this is required; specific support for fathers/male carers; and a befriending service for children and young people.

South Ayrshire Women's Aid - Children & Young People's Service

South Ayrshire Women’s Aid provide an outreach and follow-on service that offers emotional and practical support to children and young people up to the age of 18 who experience Domestic Abuse. The service provides one-to-one, peer and drop-in sessions. Children and young people are able to contact workers at a time that suits them via phone, text, e-mail.

Stepping Stones for Families offers a childcare service, delivered in the family home or place of residence. Young People's Support & Transition Service (South Ayrshire Council)

The Young People’ Support and Transitions Service works with young people aged 15-21 years who are/were looked after or accommodated by the local authority, and young homeless people requiring assistance. The service offers individual support, group work opportunities and provides information on a range of issues.
